Voting Essay :: essays research papers

Voting EssayCan you imagine walking into the scheduled spot chosen in your riding for pick out, to find a group of younker teenagers just hanging around talking and laughing amongst themselves? Wouldnt you be thinking, what do those kids know about voting? Look at them just mingling about with each other This election could determine my lifestyle in the future For this reason and others, I call back the voting age should be left at 18, if not raised a year or two.Is it not true that the Young Offenders Act was created because youths chthonic the age of 18 cannot think rationally for themselves and need special guidance? Well one could argue that for the same reason, youths shouldnt be given the right to vote. Politics, national Bills, and the government can all be classified as jobs for the elders. Perhaps it is outdo for the elders to decide upon who they are. Dont get me wrong, Im not trying to put down young people, obviously not, look at myself, its just that it is safe to say that citizens older then me, even one year older run through more acquaintance then me and would have better understandings of who to vote for. People may argue that some teens do have more knowledge then some adults, plainly were talking majority wise.Voting is also not an easy task. It takes a lot of effort and research to distinguish which Member of Parliament would be the best to vote for. Some representatives may even come door to door to persuade you to vote or them and since they would be aware that young teens now have a say in elections, they would use their sneaky minds and somehow promise something attractive to youths, possibly a four day school week or three months summer of summer break as opposed to two. Surveys have shown that teens are much more gullible then adults and this could also cause a problem within a group of friends. e.g.(Hey man Who are you voting for? Umm&8230 The Reforms. All right sounds good to me, Ill choose them too.

We The Americans...               As inhabitants of the United States and the world, we the young hispanics, latinos, and chicanos of America need to take a stand against those who would rule this country with disregard for our development as an appreciated and respected culture. Our parents have fought their whole lives to give us what we need to survive, but instanter is our time to fight. Even today, in our nation that is so focused on "equality" there is a silent prejudice that is tearing our country unconnected at the seams. As a country, we have made great strides toward learning to understand each other, but understanding is not enough. Our president George W. Bush and numerous others in power today are only doing what has to be done in order for us to maintain silence and keep working. Now, through education, semipolitical activism, youth leadership, and action, we will grow as a people.   &n bsp I fully believe that education is the key to the progression of our civil and human rights. Hispanics are a very intelligent people, now we must use the opportunities available to us to teach ourselves and our children how to be strong. According to the National Council of La Raza, the leading organization commit to the betterment of hispanic lives, "no issue is of greater concern to the latino community than the low educational status of its children." In todays schools, latinos are becoming a large minority in m some(prenominal) schools due to the fact that "more than one third (35.7%) of Hispanics are under 18 years of age"(NCLR 9). Did you be that the "number one candidate to drop out of high school is latina girls"(NCLR 3). These are our mothers and daughters, the ones who teach and care for our children. How can we let our children be raised by uneducated women? Our children are learning in schools that are "overcrowded, underfunded, and i ll-prepared to provide rigorous academic instructional and intervention services"(NCLR 9). Since George W. Bush has basically shown in his work out proposal that he is not interested in helping latinos with their education, by this I mean he has not chosen to increase funding of any of the latino focused educational budget items, and he has even chosen to cut the funding of the number one college preparation program for low income areas GEAR-UP by 68 million dollars or 1/4 of their budget (White Paper 5).
